Job Title: Volunteer Events assistant

Purpose: Shelter NI requires events assistants to help us plan and market events supporting Shelter NI's mission of campaigning for better, more affordable housing and homelessness. The event assistant will represent Shelter NI to the public who will attend fundraising events

 

Location:  Based in the Belfast office and on location at events.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working from computerised lists to contact supporters (pre and post event) checking they have all their information, advice and materials they require
  • Promotion of Shelter NI, its projects 
  • Helping to promote, market and arrange events
  • Help with ticket sales and distribution
  • Helping with PR for the supporter or event by looking for supporter’s stories, organising press and PR on the day
  • Helping prepare bulk mailings.
  • Prepares correspondence as needed.
  • The opportunity to host and run their own event if competent
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Placing promotional materials for events in the local community
  • Co-ordinating helpers/volunteers on the day
  • Helping out on the day e.g. briefing performers, etc.

 

Reports to: Campaign and fundraising officer

 

Length of Appointment: Open ended

 

Time Commitment: Flexible

 

Qualifications: Basic knowledge of computer and data entry. Pleasant manner, patience, problem-solving ability, dependability.

 

Support: Training for this position will be provided. In addition, the Campaign and fundraising officer will be available for questions and assistance.

 

Age Requirement: None

 

Dress Code: Casual
