El Dia de los Muertos

Muertos

Come join us on Monday 28th October from 8pm at Whites Tavern, 2-4 Winecellar Entry, Belfast for a night full of ‘Day of the dead’ delights.  Doors open at 8. £3 entry goes to Shelter NI.  Prize for most macabre costume!

It will be a night to remember, hosted by Belfast’s very own Salsa DJ Zorba, who hosts Saturday night Salsa and Sabor Latin events, who will provide Latin and halloween-inspired party music.  There will also be spooky performances from Flamenco NI.

The evening will be crammed full of traditional activities such as Pinata whacking, dancing, Mexican inspired food and cocktails such as Mojitos, Margaritas + Tequila Sunrise, will be available with £1 per cocktail being donated to Shelter NI.

Throughout the night raffle tickets will be available to purchase with prizes such as a sugar skull necklace by bespoke Belfast jewellery designer Samantha Bell of Bohemian Vixen, tickets for Dracula the panto at the Crescent Arts Centre, delicious Boojum vouchers and many more.

“The great need for affordable housing to rent or buy here will not be met if it is left to the free market to supply the solution. We have been over dependent on the private market to meet our housing needs recently.

The social housing sector cannot be relied upon to step up because of the austerity regime currently applied by the Westminster government and the priority for social housing programmes afforded by the Stormont Executive. We believe new initiatives are required to boost affordable housing supply and to identify new forms of finance to meet urgent housing need.

The night will raise funds for our latest initiative which we are hoping to renovate vacant and derelict housing in partnership with local communities.  With these projects, we hope to generate work for employed and unemployed people; skilled tradesmen and apprentices and provide affordable housing for individuals and families in housing need.” Tony McQuillan, Director at Shelter NI
