Take in the sights, sounds and nibbles at 'Le grand déjeuner' at the Crosshill Gallery in support of Shelter NI on Sunday 8th June from 1pm -3pm.
Inspired by the Big Lunch events that have been happening across the UK, 'Le grand déjeuner' will be a feast for all your senses. Relax and unwind on a Sunday afternoon of light lunch, classical music and art whilst getting to know your neighbours.
Musicians from the Ulster Orchestra will provide an afternoon of entertaining with exquisite music, whilst you are free to browse the gallery and share quality time with other art lovers.
It will also be an opportunity to find out more about Shelter NI's projects and will feature an exciting auction with wonderful prizes. This is a free event with 100% of donations going to Shelter NI.
Tony McQuillan, Director of Shelter NI; “We are delighted that the Crosshill Gallery is supporting Shelter NI. Every day in Northern Ireland more than 50 families or individuals present themselves as homeless and in need of assistance. Too few new homes are being built and each year more homeless households are placed in temporary accommodation while they wait for a permanent solution. At present there are more than 5000 homeless adults and children waiting for a home of their own.
Households have a fundamental human right to decent affordable homes. Public funds are scarce, but in this time of austerity, there is a need to commit even more resources to building decent affordable homes. To make a real improvement in people’s lives, in our view, the government must commit itself to build 10,000 more social houses over the next two years.”
If you are interested in attending this event please RSVP to Claire Douglas at firstname.lastname@example.org or ring 90 247752 before Friday 31st May
