Each year we hold an event in memory of Colonel Barney Filor a founding member of Shelter NI, former Chair and latterly, President. Barney was also responsible for many other housing associations forming here. He also had wider society and community interests and established organisations which provided various services from job training to promoting reconciliation.
On behalf of Shelter NI, I would like to invite you to attend the Annual Barney Filor Memorial Lecture ’17 that will be held at the Girdwood Community Hub, Belfast on Wednesday, 15th February 2017 commencing at 1.30pm.
A distinguished speaker has agreed to provide the lecture: Nic Bliss – Head of Policy, Confederation of Co-operative Housing will give his perspective on the theme of
“Is this the time for Co-operative Housing in Northern Ireland?”
This event will give delegates an opportunity to address the following issues among others:
This event is aimed at: Academics; individuals wishing to get involved with self-build housing; housing co-operatives; co-housing; eco-housing and community building; Housing Associations; Senior Government and Public Servants; Investors; Funders and Credit Unions. Invitations will be issued to all political parties to attend.
